What is your body made of?

Panchmahabhutas: The 5 core elements of our being

Panch or 5, Maha meaning too Huge, and Bhuta refers to elements, and together Panchmahabhuta means the five essential elements of the universe.

Everything in nature is made with the composition of these five elements; earth, water, air, fire, and space (ether). Even our body is made up of five elements; blood consists of the water element, breath consists of the air element, our digestive system, body heat and energy consists of the fire element, bones and body is made of the earth element and our soul is space (ether).

Likewise our commercial/residential place i.e. our Vastu is also made of five elements which become more vibrant with its different forms and characteristics of elements. If either of these elements does not sync in one’s Vastu then the imbalance could lead to unfavorable effects with regards to financial, physical, mental, or psychological health. An experienced Vastu professional knows the laws of nature and knows how to bring the harmony of the energy field forces and elements to attain greater success in all the aspects of life.

Vastu observes the ancient Indian science of architecture and balances the entire invisible field forces with five essential elements to attain harmony. The complete interaction of these elements and field forces is cosmic and produces a third type of force called “Bio-force or Pran Shakti” that is essential for life to exist. When they act in balance, they help elevate prosperity, peace, happiness and expend difficulties and distress.

Let’s delve deeper into them:

Earth (Prithivi / Bhumi) –

In India, Earth is worshiped as Mother Nature who is always providing everything to all the creatures on the planet. Earth is the element connected to all the five senses of the human body i.e. taste, touch, smell, hear, and sight.

The Earth is a big magnet with North and South poles as centers of attraction, tilted 23 ½ degrees towards the sun. Due to the tilted axis of the meridian, we experience various seasons. The magnetic field is one of the strong forces that have a considerable effect on everything that exists on it. According to Medical science, it has been proven already that the electromagnetic field affects the human body due to the large percentage of Iron available in our blood. The Earth element imparts “Practicality”. Proper balancing of the earth element in a residential or commercial will lend a practical attitude to the occupant of such a place.

Water (Jal) –

Water is the most important element. It’s the element connected to the four senses of the human body i.e. taste, touch, hear, and sight. It is quantitatively one of the largest elements, almost 70% of the earth and the human body is water. The water has a memory that holds energies and vibrations. A water molecule takes different shapes and reacts to positive/negative thoughts and words (prayers and chanting mantras), in all religions “Holy water” is considered as blissful intake to awakening human consciousness.

Water imparts “Emotions & sentiments” to the inhabitants. Proper balancing of the water element in a residential or commercial will enhance love, care, and affections.

Fire (Agni) –

Fire is represented by the Sun. Fire is the element connected to the three senses of the human body: hear, touch and sight. The sun is the soul of the universe, the only source of renewable energy. Sunlight is our primary source of light, heat, vital energy, and health. The visible yellow sunlight consists of “Vibgyor spectrum” violet for spirituality, indigo for harmony, green for fertility, blue for loyalty, yellow for energy, orange for healing, red for sexuality.

Fire is considered the messenger of God. Almost in every religion spiritual activities are related to the fire element. The fire element in our body is represented by our digestive acids, the electricity flowing through, and the body heat that we possess. Fire imparts “Vitality and will power”. Proper balancing of the fire element in a residential or commercial will result in creating a positive and energetic environment. The imbalance of fire element in any Vastu could lead to blood pressure issues, digestive problems.

Air (Vayu) –

Air is indispensable for survival without which, life will come to an end. It absorbs the UV solar radiation from the Sun and protects all life forms. It regulates temperature and is linked to the sense of sound and touch. The gaseous form of matter is dynamic and is a composition of various gases- oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and many more. Plants too, use carbon dioxide to carry out the process of photosynthesis using sunlight to produce oxygen.

Air regulates the breath and respiratory system in our body. Any form of imbalance in the Air element can lead to health issues of asthma, emphysema, and other respiratory diseases. The air element is linked to joy and happiness. The proper balancing of the air element in a residential or commercial will match the intellectual with the constructive mind.

Space/Ether (Aakash) –

The most mysterious of all elements, Akash is thought to have existed before anything else existed in the world. It is the space that all elements fill and is free-flowing. Energies flow in a better way when space is uncluttered. It maintains the physiological system in our body and talks about a free-flowing, open space that is unoccupied. It enhances one’s soul and seeks to bring about peace in one’s mind.

Our sky radiates cosmic energy which enhances and stimulates our environment and surroundings. An imbalance in this element can lead to depression, bipolarity, and various other mental illnesses. In every creation to have ever taken place, a balance is required to be maintained to achieve maximum benefit. Vastu Shastra is a science that shows how to balance men and material and matter, making way for prosperity and happiness. The cosmos has an unlimited reserve of energy and to achieve well-being, it needs to be harnessed perfectly.

Though every element has its importance and each of them is present in relative proportions, each element influences every creation and life in a myriad of ways. It is profoundly said that peaceful co-existence will lead to prosperity. In life, ensuring balance is of utmost importance and that can be done by applying the principles of Vaastu in the most scientific manner possible to the areas we spend our time in the most.

As we are living in the dimension of space-time. We physically being present and moving in the space – we experience time “Good or Bad”
